Oh friends, I’ve been longing to share this Brotherhood Winery Wedding with you for so long now! I’ve certainly given plenty of sneak peaks on social media and with a little preview post last Fall. But since there is so much I love about this couple and their special day, I’ve needed plenty of time to curate this blog post.
Ever since I’ve met Cait + Phil, I’ve been fortunate to get to know them on a deeper level other than just as clients. I’ve had the honor of photographing their engagement and a boudoir session for Cait that she would then gift Phil on their wedding day. But beyond that, they’ve truly welcomed me into their hearts and made have made me feel like I’m part of their inner circle. The day before their wedding, Cait even invited me to her bridal brunch as a friend and I couldn’t have been more touched to celebrate the bride-to-be with a select few of her closest ladies. She has become a dear friend and I look so forward to celebrating many more milestones in life with her!
Now as for the couple and their gorgeous wedding, what follows is some of what Cait has shared with me in the year leading up to the wedding. Much of this is in her own poetic words and I couldn’t have said it better myself. Happy reading and enjoy their beautiful photos!
The bride and groom are the epitome of opposites attract, a notion that was often referred to during their wedding ceremony and speeches. Caitlin is outgoing, emotional, and craves the spotlight. Phil is reserved, logical, and bless him, totally willing to let Caitlin be the center of attention. He grounds her and she helps him to shine. Since they’re both Taurus’s Caitlin refers to Phil as the bull on Wall Street, and her, well she’s the bull in a china shop. Although they’re so different, at their cores where it counts, they are incredibly similar in their values, and their love for each other and those closest to them.
Shortly after the bride and groom first met at a charity event in NYC, they discovered they shared the same birthday, May 12th. Since then “512” has taken up a significant meaning in their lives. If one of them noticed it was 5:12PM, they’d fist bump and give a little kiss. That evolved into texting one another when they weren’t together and noticed the special time. So you can imagine their delight when Phil’s business school years brought them to Austin, Texas where the local area code is 512. Caitlin now has a tattoo of their lucky number on her back under her left shoulder. And on their wedding day, at 5:12PM during their cocktail hour, they enjoyed a very special private toast.
Ever so chic is the couple who lives in Manhattan and was engaged in Madison Square Park. Yet their vision for their wedding day would include a organic, elegant element and would be held in the Hudson Valley at The Brotherhood Winery, known for being the Oldest Winery in America. They chose pearl (the bride’s mother and grandmother’s birthstone) and eucalyptus as base colors and weaved something blue throughout with navy bridesmaid dresses, a dark blue tuxedo jacket for the groom, the bride’s grandmother’s sapphire bracelet and her blue Badgley Mischka shoes. Their florist, known in the Hudson Valley for being under the radar but creating beautiful work that she pours her heart into, tied everything together with her masterful creations which included anemone and blue thistle. The groom’s uncle designed their stationary suite and the bride created the illustration of the couple used on their cake topper, welcome bags and koozies. The CP wine barrels used throughout their reception were an unplanned and happy surprise for the couple baring those same initials!
Caitlin purchased her Lillian West gown at Lamb’s Hill, an intimate bridal boutique in Beacon, NY. The lace bodice and sleeves lent themselves to the romance of the day while the flowing skirt reflected the bride’s lighthearted personality, and served as the most comfortable way to dance all.night.long with the incredible Eturnity Band who delighted their guests!
As always, thank you to my second photographer Marielle!
