Today is #GivingTuesday. A day that the organizers of the movement describe as a new day for giving back when we already have one day for giving thanks, and two days for getting deals. It as simple as packing an extra lunch and giving it to someone who forgot theirs, or worse, has no means to getting a good meal. Or finding an organization you can volunteer or donate to. Or maybe it’s reaching out to someone who you know is really hurting and is in need of some extra love. The point is to do something today.
I once read that the one and only Yurok Indian law is to be true to yourself, and that being true to yourself means giving your best to help a person in need. It has been part of my life’s mission and will continue to become a pillar of my photography business to always give back. With all that I’ve received from this world, I have SO much to return to it. With this business just getting out the gates, I plan for Nicole D Photography to participate in #GivingTuesday at a more impactful level in the coming years.
For today, there are plenty of ways for all of us to get involved. These are some of the charities I’ve personally supported and donated to over the years. I’ll choose at least one to support today and I encourage you to do the same!
